I'LL BE BACK SOON....

Trying to stay a float.... That's exactly what I've been doing these last few weeks. I say weeks, but I think it's been months. I haven't had time to adjust to a lot of things that have changed in my life over the past few months....

Two of my boys started school in August. That may seem like a relief for a mom who has been home with 3 (and it is), but it also means more work in other areas. I'm now the mom who volunters, the mom who has to help with homework, make sure all of the school uniforms are clean and ironed, the mom who picks up the kids at 2:30, the mom who have to make sure there aren't any toys in book bags, the mom who has to find the missing hat that was left at school, the mom who have to make sure lunch money taken care of, etc... I know a lot of you already do that, but it's still new to me and just when I was adjusting, I became...

A sister who had to help a sister and nephew by taking them into her home. A sister who had to help her sister find a job. A sister that after finding said sister a job, is now babysitter to said sister's son (a 2yr old). Oh and did I mention that this sister can't drive? Therefore, I take her to work and EVERYWHERE else she have to go. So on top of being the mom mentioned above, I am now basically caregiver to two other people...

Why do I feel the need to tell you all of this? Because you guys have become a part of me. Every time I don't publish a post, or forget to do something on this blog, I think about you. Yeah I know that blogging is not that big of a deal to many of you, but for me, it's something that has brought me a lot of enjoyment. For me, it has brought me through some rough times in my life. For me, you guys are more than just "followers"... I've made really great friends through blogging.

I've shared with you before how I went through depression a few years back. And when you've been depressed like I've been depressed, its easy to have a set back. In my case, too much stress and being overwhelmed is what causes my depression. Right now, I am stressed. Right now I have too many things tugging at me. Right now, I have to take a step back and figure out how to get myself and my life in order. I have plenty of things that I "need/want" to share with you, but the things that are taking over my life won't allow that. By the time I'm done with the demands that are put on me, I'm exhausted. I'm exhausted and at the same time I feel like I'm short changing you (have you ever heard that phrase?). I feel like I'm not giving my all to my readers.

I have been given so many oppurtunities because of my blog. I have met so many people because of my blog. I have smiled, and laughed, and learned so much from blogging that I refuse to give it up. I do, however, have to step away for a while... I have to take time to get myself and my life together, I need time to get back on track. I need time to focus on my family. I need time to get back to blogging my true self.

I just need time to "BE" for awhile. Have you ever felt like that?

I'll be back soon...

CARS BEDROOM: Bedding…check!

Today I’m guest posting at Studio Ten 25!  Stop by and tell Abbe hello!

Bedding for the Car’s inspired bedroom have finally been chosen thanks to you guys! Originally thinking that the circles would look great in the room, I quickly realized that this room required something “funky”!

As you can see from the picture below, the circles just didn’t do anything for the room…

The stripes were definitely the way to go.  Now I’m thinking red may be the color to bring out in the room instead of the green that I originally planned on.

Furniture for the room has yet to be decided on.  I’m hoping to have everything for the space by the end of January.  We’ll see how that goes…

HOW DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH A SET TABLE?

Hello again friends! I have a free moment and while the boys are super excited about today being the last day of school for their winter break, I’m stressing because it’s down to the wire for me! With presents to ship, and painting projects to finish, I’m just one big bottle of crazy right now.

Every time I complete a task, I want to be able to share it with you (just so you’ll know that I’m really not a slacker!). The latest task was setting my dining room table for the holidays. After searching for the right tablecloth with no luck, I decided to make a quick one from a roll of fabric I found a few months back at Goodwill. I also purchased some mercury glass candlesticks from Target that I absolutely love!

Once the fabric was cut to the length I needed, I started playing around with the settings

This is what I came up with… (Thank you Mr. Goodwill Hunting for the tip)

fall crafts 148 These pictures don’t WOW me at all. I promise that the table looks really good in person;-)

He used to be blue, but a can of gold spray paint fixed that!

Oh, and it fixed the boring brown pinecones you see on the table too!

But back to the question; How do you take a really good (great even) picture of a tablescape?!

Happy Weekend!

BRINGING CHRISTMAS CHEER TO THE CLASSROOM

On top of all the other things I have going on right now, you know, painting, decorating, blogging (or lack thereof), I also volunteered in my oldest son’s classroom to make ornaments for their Christmas tree!

I purchased the wooden ornaments from Joann’s for 39 cents each

After they finished coloring them with the markers, I surprised them with GLITTER!!! Anyone with kids know how much glitter excites a child! Oh I had so much fun with this project.  The best part was when I was helping then add the glitter and coming up with the designs for the glitter, one of the little girls said “Wow, she’s an artist”! OH MY GOSH!!!! Too adorable!

Here is Antonio’s ornament (that will be on our tree next year)

Because they had to dry, I didn’t get to take pictures of them on the tree.  Tomorrow is there Holiday Party, so I’ll try to snap a picture before I leave;-)

What crafts have you done with your kids or ANY kids for the holidays?!

SAMPLING AND PAINTING

So I have a little secret.  Nothing major, but it is a something that I’ve been keeping from you guys—well those of you that aren’t on twitter;-)

I’ve been painting my entire downstairs!

I’ve been doing it alone and it has taken a lot of time and it has been keeping me away from a lot of other important things like blogging and…BLOGGING! Anywho, I wanted to share with you how I decide on my paint colors

DSCN3602

DSCN3601

I sample paint everywhere in the room! I skipped priming the wall in the second picture because I was able to see the true color on the wall leading up the stairway.  The lighter color is Tony Taupe and the darker is Virtual Taupe both by Sherwin Williams.  I chose the darker color (Virtual Taupe) for the living room and for the dining room.  As far as the kitchen and family room, I painted those Accessible Beige.  Here is a peek at the family room before I finished painting it

DSCN3645

The family room was originally painted Sensational Sand by Sherwin Williams, but it was a little too dark for the space.  My family room and kitchen is in the back of my house so I needed a light color to brighten up the two spaces.

Now, as for my kitchen cabinets, I will be painting those again too.  They will be painted the same color as the trim which is Aesthetic White also by SW . Oh and yes, I will blog about that process although it won’t start until after the holidays;-)

So, there’s my secret.  I’ve been painting! I’ll show you the space SOON!

AM I THE ONLY ONE CRAZY ENOUGH TO TAKE ON A LARGE PROJECT BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS?

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS THEN AND NOW

Christmas Day 2009 001

fall crafts 011 Last year my Christmas decorations consisted of blues and silver.  I decorated with those colors for the past three years and decided to try a new color this year.  Stepping out of my comfort zone, I decided to try teal and gold and to add a little whimsy to my decor.  After Sarah tweeted about Walmart’s glittery ornaments for a buck, I ran out and snatched up about 20 of the gold poinsettias and the prettiest birds;-)

Here are a few snippets of my tree…

I can’t get a good picture of the entire tree to save my life! But, here is my best attempt.  Hopefully it’s looking like this because I’m not done decorating it.  We’ll see!

Is it whimsy?  Or is it whimsy?!?!

Have you decorated your tree? What colors are you using this year?!

You guys are getting a sneak peek at the living room new wall color! The new color is Virtual Taupe by Sherwin Williams and I’ll talk more about that later;-)
