PURPLE PASSION

If you follow me on Pinterest or twitter, then you’ve probably noticed that I’m contemplating using the color purple in my bedroom

I love that the above space has brown walls with pops of purple especially since my room is already brown!

Purple has always been one of my favorite colors (my birthstone is Amethyst!).  I just never considered using it in my home

But what I’ve realized is that any color can look great in a space as long as it’s done right!

After a quick trip to Ikea yesterday, I noticed that they have added a few purple textiles to their inventory (should have taken pictures!)

This means that I can possibly add this color to my space without breaking the bank!  hmmm…now what color should I paint this dresser?

Definitely not purple!

Purple is my favorite color! I always like to add a pop of color some how some way. Don't you love it when you can find a picture for inspiration?!!! If you add purple I think you should go with an off-white for your dresser, although I think purple and turquoise work together too!

If you go with purple I say paint the dresser the yellow or white. White is the safe way to go, but yellow would be fun.

I think I would paint the dresser an off white color, maybe ballet white from Martha Stewarts line. By the way my Home Goods has chairs almost identical to the ones in the purple fabric for only 100 bucks.

Love that purple & brown inspiration pic. I agree w/pp's, that off-white would work great for the dresser. One of the things I like about purple is that it has a masculine & feminine vibe, and it's the color of royalty. I really believe all married couples should have a master bedroom that feels like "the palace." ;-) That's what I'm aiming for with ours as my hubby and I get ready to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Too bad I didn't think of it 10 yrs ago! lol

It certainly would be nice to be able to work with the brown walls! Love this idea...that poor dresser. Has it been painted before? It is going to have an identity crisis! Janell

I just painted my bedroom purple and my husband was unsure if he liked it. I have been adding lots of grey to the room and shiny accents. It is starting to come together. Yellow is the complimentary to purple so a yellow dresser would look fantastic or a nice grey tone to it. Enjoy :)

IKEA has new purple textiles?? It is so hard to find good purple textiles, been trying to find a great one for window curtains for our master bedroom. This is great news! Thanks for sharing!

If we ever meet in person then you would learn very quickly how much I love the color purple. You could keep the dresser in turquoise so long as you use incorporate the color somewhere else in the room. I personally like silver leaf on the dresser. It adds a touch of glimmer and glam to the space without being too flashy like say if you were to mirrors to the facades.

Love purple -- and that Amanda Nisbett bedroom is a favorite of mine, too. I'm also so excited that more retailers are stocking fabrics and accessories in purple...when I was decorating my study two years ago I couldn't find ANYTHING that went with the deep plum walls.

And how about a crisp white that goes with the trim? It's always a classic!
