WALL OF MIRRORS

Today is looking good so far in the productivity department. After 2 years of having these mirrors in my garage, I finally got around to hanging them in the dining room.

First step was to measure the wall and calculate how much space the mirrors needed between them.

The next time your children tell you that they don't need a particular subject in school, remind them of how much math is needed just to hang a wall of mirrors!

The first row went up.

Then the second and third...

And in no time, I was finished! Next up is to refinish the frames. I'm thinking my trusty Rub n' Buff will come in handy for that.

On top of working in the dining room, I've also added a gallery wall to the living room wall above the sofa. More on that later.

So, how is Monday going for you so far?!?!

EARLY MORNING WITH MARTHA (yes, that Martha!)

Last week I received an email from my friend and fellow blogger Brandi asking if I was interested in going with her to the Martha Stewart event hosted by Home Depot here in Atlanta this past Saturday. Ummm... I'm sure you can guess what my answer was. I mean seriously, who would pass up a chance like that?!

I left out at about 7:20am

Once inside, Brandi and I waited patiently as the queen of DIY made her debut

The topic of discussion was tips to decorating your home with an emphasis on holiday decorating and entertaining.

Of course Kevin Sharkey was there!

after dishing out a few tips verbally, the dynamic duo got to work on a few projects to inspire us

The candy cane mailbox was by far my favorite project. I think I'm going to try that:))

The entire experience was great. Martha was a delight and so was Kevin. I'm so thankful to brandi for asking me to tag along. I swear I've been out of the loop for awhile. For a better run down of events, check out Brandi's blog. Y'all know I'm still trying to figure out this iPad!

THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY

My house is far from being complete design wise. But I can't help but be happy with the little things around here. For instance:

My desk in my office is always a mess. But looking back on this picture, it reminds me of how successful my etsy shop has been. I can't help but be grateful for that.

My inspiration board is another tidbit in my office that makes me smile. It's not complete, but every time I look up at It, I smile.

Tonia from the blog 'Chic Modern Vintage' came to visit from Texas. She brought me 2 beautiful brass trays and I finally got around to polishing one to place on my dresser in my bedroom. This is why blogging is so important to me. The friends you make is amazing.

After cleaning out my garage the other day (hopefully for the last time), I realized how much I miss painting furniture. I think it's time I resume.
It's nice being able to run out and grab the latest home accessory from Target (like the new line from Nate), but a $2 brass bowl from Goodwill can bring the same happiness!

My small collection of bread boards... I smile every time I see them, too!

And although my room isn't complete, seeing this picture reminds me that it's not far from it.

I know this post is pretty random, but it's just a reminder that although your home, life, or situation may not be exactly what or how you want it, there is always something that should make you happy.

Enjoy your week! L.D

SCORING BIG AT TARGET (living room items)

If you've read this blog for any amount of time, you know that I'm a bargain shopper. How can I not be? With three kids and a frugal husband, I really have to stretch my dollars. For the past two weeks, Target has been clearing out some of their items which left them priced at fantastic deals. Today I wanted to share a few with you that I used in the living room.

This sunburst mirror wasn't really part of their clearance, but it was marked down because it was repackaged. I was able to snag this baby for $15! I knew I wanted to highlight the "burst" parts, so I brushed them with some rub n' buff.

(before)

(after)

Then there are the pillows. I found pillows with down inserts for less than $10 each

I'm thinking about replacing the pale yellow pillows with these below that I found at Ross a few days ago

A new lamp for 14.98 with a shade I already had

Frames that I thought were going to be hung above the blue French dresser

(that rug is actually for the kitchen!)

I also found some art that I'm trying to decide if I should keep or not. It was was also on clearance for 14.98

For my coffee table, I found this cute little brass bowl at goodwill for less than 2 bucks!

I have a few things left to do in here and then I'll show you how I pulled the room together with all of my finds. It's amazing how with less than $100, my living room looks totally different from how it looked last year.

(last years Fall makeover)

See ya next week!

USING MY IPAD TO BLOG

Hello! I'm currently texting out my iPad to see if I can blog ok with it. It's been a minute since my last post (I know) and I have so much to share with you guys!

Like how I'm determined to enjoy my home spruced up for Fall

I took advantage of Targets latest clearance and really racked up!

Stay tuned for the little updates I made and for me to share everything I purchased.

I also scored big time on a headboard from HomeGoods!

here's a sneak peek of it in my bedroom

Cute right?!

Lastly, I have been really enjoying dressing for the cooler temps

Oh and before I forget, I read all three of the Fifty Shades books in a week. Omg! Y'all should have told me! I'm starting over now. I just can't get enough.

Like I said, I'm trying to get a few posts together on my iPad. My laptop broke and I chose to purchase an iPad over fixing it. I downloaded an app called blogsy and so far it's working. I plan to write some posts over the weekend so next week I'll be popping up in your blog reader and emails!

Thanks for staying with me and let's hope this work! Ttyl
