STILL WORKING IN THE CORNER….DIY Inspiration board part 1

I’m baaaack! Okay, since I’m putting a work area in my bedroom, I need a place to post notes and inspiration for future projects.  With that in mind, I immediately knew what I would use for my frame for the inspiration/bulletin board. 

On the last day of the Room Service Atlanta install, I noticed a stack of art against the wall.  When I asked what was going to be done with them, I was told that I could have whatever I wanted.  Really?  No one wanted them? Okay. So I took four framed pieces of art home with me!  Here is one that I am using for it’s frame

The frame is HUGE! And believe it or not, it’s not the largest one I got! 

Obviously I’m not feeling the art, but geez, the frame is PERFECT!

I’ve already started removing the art from the frame

(ignore that person’s leg in the picture…I have no idea whose leg that is!)

That was easy enough to remove. All I used was a butter knife (slack, I know!).

Now I just need to get some corkboard.  I think this fabric would work over the corkboard

It’s thick and neutral and I found it at Goodwill for less than 3 bucks! $2.10 to be exact

Now, where can I get some corkboard cut to size???

WORKING IN THE CORNER….Of the master bedroom

Today, I’m working on this corner of the room

 

Yesterday I told you that I had a table that I found at Goodwill for $9.  At the time I had no idea what to use it for.  Then with the need for a workspace, I figured t would probably be a good fit in my room.  Without figuring out if it would even fit in the room, I hauled it up the stairs in all it’s heaviness and hoped that I wouldn’t have to take it back downstairs

Thankfully it did work! Great, now I don’t have to type posts and write articles in bed

Sadly, everything is not perfect about this table.  First off, the base is a mess…

Hopefully one of these products will help with that:

And for the top, well it’s going to be painted dark brown

Now I need to find a chair… I wonder if one of these will work?

We’ll see! Before I start on the table, I have another project I’m working on for this corner.  Here is a sneak peek:

I LOST ONE…. The story of an almost complete gallery wall

I purchased several frames last year from Michaels for a steal.

Then I painted 6 of them and hung them in my room

But I knew I needed more… Now that I’m hanging them again, I realize that I am short one frame

You may also notice that I changed the color of the flowers.  Purple is my new “it” color!

Okay, so my task for today will be finding another frame to complete that wall and painting that mirror… Then I can move on to this table that I found for 9 bucks at Goodwill! I’m hoping that the base will clean up nicely and I can move on to painting the top.

I haven’t done the measurement yet, but I’m thinking it will fit in this corner of my room

I seriously need somewhere to work.  And since the framed floral images are on the wall with the window, I’m thinking a message/inspiration board can hang on the wall next to the bathroom door.  We’ll see.  I can see everything perfectly in my head, but you never know!

MASTER BEDROOM….Things to get done

Hi! I hope all of the mothers out there had a very happy and fun filled mother’s day!

Today I wanted to get down to business with my plans on finishing my bedroom.  If you remember from last week, I showed you guys this picture and said that it will be my inspiration

Like many of you said, it’s really not far from what I have right now…

What I like about the inspiration picture is that the nightstands are a dark brown. I like that. I’m going to try that.

On this wall, I’m going to add my framed floral prints again.  I started, but didn’t finish and then I took them down.  I’m also going to add a table and a chair for a small workstation…

I’m one of those people that needs a TV in my room.  I’m okay with that  Now, how do I style this dresser with that TV on it?  Maybe I’ll move it for pictures!

I really need to make a bed skirt. The inspiration’s bed skirt is a bit much for me, but I need a long one because I’m going to use risers on my bed too.

The window treatments…I’m still thinking about those!

I’m not sure if I want to keep the headboard.  I’ll see what I think about it once the nightstands are painted.  It’s just too much white going on in that area of the room for me…

This mirror needs a coat of paint.  It’s not the color of the dresser and that bugs me… Plus the paint is chippy.  I need to fix that!

So, that’s where I stand right now with my bedroom.  Not too much to do, right?  Let’s see how I get done before I leave for Blogfest Sunday!

ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO….

Almost two years ago, I started on this room

sad huh?

I managed to make a little progress like painting the room a pretty shade of brown (Roasted Nuts by Behr paint and primer)

(ignore the cheap chest of drawers!)

I purchased lamps

I purchased a mirror from Goodwill and painted it (thinking I was going to use it in the room)

 

I also purchased a chair that I thought I could use bring back to life

It still looks like that.

Oh and lets not forget the light.  I went from looking at this everyday

I was so close to having a finished room.  Why did I give up?  Because I am my worse critic! I can never make myself happy when it comes to decorating… Is anyone else like that?  Or am I just weird? 

Well, I’m not going to give up.  I’m starting back on my room and I hope to finish it SOON.  Like REALLY REALLY SOON!

It’s not like I have A LOT to do in the space

So stay with on this one.  And if it even look like I’m about to give up, just say

“Go back to your room, Lakeitha!”
