T.J MAXX ROCKS!

Remember when I purchased the blue lamps for my bedroom?

Well, I didn't really like them. They were an impulse buy like a lot of the other things that I have to have! I returned them and continued my search for the perfect pair of lamps. During my week of no blogging (last week) I went into T.J Maxx and found a pair that I LOVE!

and for $29.99 they were a steal!

And for those of you who know your designers, this lamp look VERY similar to the Nola lamp from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams

Speaking of lighting, Anne from The Loyd Collection sent me a few links to look at from my post on the chandelier (Thanks Anne!). I'm now undecided on purchasing one due to my husband texting me from work the other day saying how he really don't want a chandelier in the bedroom. I really don't know what to say. Our room does not get too hot during the summer months and personally, I don't like ceiling fans in the bedroom. So now I must do some convincing....

Have you ever had to convince your spouse into trying something new in decorating a space? If so, spill the beans on how it worked out!

Love the new design and as far as convincing your spouse, really focus on the things he likes. Then go in for the big ASK. :)

Disclaimer: I wouldn't recommend this for everyone but it worked well for me. My husband is very visual, I would share my design plans for his input and he could never see it and as a result would vote against it. So while he was at work, I took a day off and painted our family room a delicious spiced pumpkin color. When he came home and saw the change he LOVED it though he originally did not want the color. My thought was, “It's just paint and if it's going to start a war I'll just paint it back." Similarly, you can always return the chandelier if once up he doesn't like it, perhaps how that it's cooler it’s the time to experiment. AGAIN, please refer to disclaimer as you know your hubby best.

FABULOUS! The lamp looks extremely chic against the deep wall color and sitting on the refinished nightstand...it does look very close to the MG Lamp! Chandeliers, convincing husbands...my husband just compleley runs with any of my ideas. This always wasn't always the case, I just had to explain my reasoning and assure him he would like it in the end. Luckily he always has. Good luck with this one! The chandelier would look perfect. Yes, a deep aqua accent wall. It had to be behind his TV. This means he stares at the color constantly. Well, I'm going to change the color...not because he doesn't like. I don't really like it. We mostly compromise on a lot of things anyway. This has been the only thing he hasn't liked that I wanted to try. This is pretty good for 15 years of marriage.

I love your new lamp! Thanks for introducing me to Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams. I live in {podunk} Ohio so it's hard to keep up with current designers.
My hubby doesn't understand the notion of thrifting and repurposing. Therefore alot of my projects are met with hesitation. Things usually work out...however it makes for some interesting conversations:)

Great lamps - I like the gold bottom - nice! I had to convince my husband tons of times! lol I say - just let me work my vision and if you still don't like it, lets go in another direction...try that

I just scored some lamps from Marshalls/aka TJ MAXX a few weeks back too!!

Very pretty and I love the gold/brass on the bottom! Love your blog design *wink, wink*

As for the hubby, I just had to sometimes go ahead with my plans and he ALWAYS loves it...but I don't want to cause any trouble at your house ;-)

I like the white ones- I think it was a good trade in for the blue ones. They look great next to the brown walls :)
