SAMPLING AND PAINTING

So I have a little secret.  Nothing major, but it is a something that I’ve been keeping from you guys—well those of you that aren’t on twitter;-)

I’ve been painting my entire downstairs!

I’ve been doing it alone and it has taken a lot of time and it has been keeping me away from a lot of other important things like blogging and…BLOGGING! Anywho, I wanted to share with you how I decide on my paint colors

I sample paint everywhere in the room! I skipped priming the wall in the second picture because I was able to see the true color on the wall leading up the stairway.  The lighter color is Tony Taupe and the darker is Virtual Taupe both by Sherwin Williams.  I chose the darker color (Virtual Taupe) for the living room and for the dining room.  As far as the kitchen and family room, I painted those Accessible Beige.  Here is a peek at the family room before I finished painting it

The family room was originally painted Sensational Sand by Sherwin Williams, but it was a little too dark for the space.  My family room and kitchen is in the back of my house so I needed a light color to brighten up the two spaces.

Now, as for my kitchen cabinets, I will be painting those again too.  They will be painted the same color as the trim which is Aesthetic White also by SW . Oh and yes, I will blog about that process although it won’t start until after the holidays;-)

So, there’s my secret.  I’ve been painting! I’ll show you the space SOON!

AM I THE ONLY ONE CRAZY ENOUGH TO TAKE ON A LARGE PROJECT BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS?

Crikey! What a project! You'll rock it no doubt, though. Hope the painting continues to go well!

Wow, you are brave to start a big project like this before the holidays but I cant say much because I am adding molding to my cabinets and painting them white. Well really im not doing it but paying a neighbor who owns a paint company, but at any rate my kitchen is a mess at the moment. I hope its done before Christmas. Why are you changing the color of your cabinets?

Hi Queen Bee!
Yours most likely will be done by Christmas since a professional is working on them! I decided to paint mine the same color as the trim because the white that they are now is very WHITE. The trim color is more toned down. I try to be consistant!

I guess I'm just as crazy as you are. I'm blogging about my kitchen reno also. It doesn't stop there. I'm also working on my office and the laundry room. It keeps me busy and I don't know why I'm doing this during the holidays.

Very brave to start a large project like this before the holiday. Yet I have not doubt that you'll "giterdone"

You go, girl! I am in the middle of a few projects...and hubby kindly reminded me that Christmas is only two weeks away (our company arrives on the 24th). Yikes, that'll light a fire under me! Good luck and I bet it will look fab when you're finished!

Beautiful colors! I'd been wondering what was keeping you so busy...what a big job! Yes, it is a little crazy, but then I started painting my husband's office during the holidays last year, though that was certainly a smaller job. Love the lighter color in the living room...it is sophisticated.

Wow! I'm super impressed you're tackling such a major painting project by yourself. I've been too intimidated at repainting the "main" areas of my house (even though they probably need it!). And I love the colors you've chosen. Warm and neutral, but not builder basic.

These are great color choices and I'm SUPER impressed that you are taking this one now! You're motivated though and I know you'll get it done...
