CARS BEDROOM UPDATE

I’m trying to finish up my two youngest boys bedroom before summer is officially over.

I purchased the MALM three drawer chest from Ikea to use between the beds to hold their clothes and to serve as their nightstand.  Now I need to find a rug.

I’m still trying to figure out what to use in the corner or on this wall.  I wish I could put a desk here… I’ll figure out something.

I’m going to try to tackle the roller shades for the window in the room… Wish me luck!

Replacing the ceiling fan is still up in the air (get it? up in the airOpen-mouthed smile)

I hate these doors.  Let me rephrase that, I hate what my kids do to these doors! I may take them down…

AND, I have to patch this hole AGAINShifty

I don’t have a lot to do in the space for it to be complete, but it will take me some time.  Should I push for mid September?! I know… I’m just lazySmile with tongue out

We have the same doors in my girls' room and I can't stand them either. I'm still deciding on what to replace them with (if I ever do!) Would love to know what you come up with (if you do too) The room looks great!

For that long wall, perhaps a long, simple desk that you could DIY, with chairs that can go under the desk completely (like stools) would work??

Your not lazy, you're a mom with three boys! It looks great. The hardest part of any room for me isn't the start, it's the finishing touches.

I don't think anyone with three young boys can be mistaken as lazy! My one keeps me hopping! Janell

The room looks great! Lazy I don't think so. If you get a chance check out my post today about fabric it will make you swoon!

Laekitha, I love this room and so would any little boy!!! You are so creative and lazy is not a word that applies to any Mom with three boys, I agree with Janell. Since I have raised three sons, laundry alone kept me jumping all day long. Food, clothing and shelter was about all I could get done for the day, Kathysue

The room is coming along nicely. Sometimes the right inspiration takes time. I think the idea of a desk on the wall opposite the beds is a great idea. Have you considered a shelf desk. Check out this inspiration from Design Sponge. http://www.designsponge.com/2008/04/diy-project-maggis-minimalist-oak-desk.html

Have you checked out IKEA's Laiva desk ($20) and matching narrow shelve unit ($25)? These are awesome for small spaces and are definitely budget friendly. I have one I bought a year ago and it's sturdy and was easy to put together.

What bout the BESTÅ BURS desk at Ikea? I haven't used it myself but it looks long and narrow and could maybe fit against that wall?? Good luck! - Vivian

I know you can do it! My to do list is so long, I can't even see straight, but we'll get it done!!

The closet doors look like bifolds. Here's a post in Apt. Therapy that shows how to change bi-folds into regular doors. Pretty clever, I thought. Here's the link. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/sf/how-to/converting-a-bifold-door-122514

Take care,

I love the bedding! Are the beds Ikea too? My son needs a bed and I really like the ones you have here.

I love this room! I'm confident your sons love this room too! How did you get the cars to stay on the wall? Velcro? Glue? Looks fabulous! I have one son and one daughter, between the two of them I can hardly take a deep breath! My son is either going full speed ahead or sleeping, there is no slowing down, middle speed for him...I can't imagine how you do so much with three sons. I agree, lazy isn't in the vocabulary of a good mother. Great job on the room!
