DO YOU SETTLE?

Months ago I mentioned that I wanted to spruce up my back patio (if I can call it that!). I listed a few things that I could buy that were budget friendly and could hold me over until I was able to get what I really wanted. So as many projects I plan to do around the house, it was put on hold. But as I noticed stores clearing out their summer items, I went ahead and snatched a few things up like:

These chairs that were down to $26 each

This table that was $36

This garden stool that was $21

and a few pillows (in blue) that were $3.24 each

Yes they were all great deals, but like I said, they will be used until I get what I really want. My question is this: Do you purchase things to hold you over until you get what you want? Or, do you put that money to the side to put towards what you really want?

PEOPLE ARE GOING TO THINK I'M CRAZY....

....But I like it!

I love the color against my living room walls

We (okay Tony) is in the process of redoing the yard. I think once we add the flowers and change out the light fixtures it will look even better! I also plan to add numbers to the door. I can't wait!

He asked me why I would paint the door blue instead of red. He said that we don't have blue anywhere on the house. I simply replied "well, we don't have red on the house either"!

I'll take better pictures when the sun is out. We are suppose to get a few showers today.

BLUE?

Just a thought!

PAINTING A DOOR

I posted this back in November when my house was being painted. At the time, I really wanted a red door, but as mentioned below I chickened out!

I love a nicely painted front door...

Especially when the color is a bold choice...

But a more traditional color is great too...

It's just something about an unexpected color choice that makes a statement and shows a little more personality!

Originally, I planned to paint my front door Rustic red

But when it was time to paint it, I chickened out. I worried that my future outside decor would have to work well with a red door and I couldn't stand the thought of being limited.

So instead I went with brown. Plain. Simple. Brown. A color that would not clash against many of the colors I like to decorate with. Now I wonder if that was a good idea. I feel like that little pop of color was needed. And without it my color choice fell flat. What's wrong with me?!!

What color is your door? Have you ever had a problem decorating around the color of your door? What are your thoughts on this matter?

MY DOOR IS DEFINITELY GOING RED THIS WEEKEND!

SHOPPING FOR OUTDOOR FURNITURE

Spring is here and with it comes beautiful weather. With highs here in the 90's already and pleasant lows in the mid 60's, it's time to start thinking about the outdoors. I don't have much in my backyard to work with other than a small concrete slab. Unlike the the above photo my space is limited to a few small chairs and possibly a small side table. But, like everything else, I plan to make the most of the space.

Last night, I went out looking for some possible contenders for my back 'patio' space. First stop, J C Penney

Cindy Crawford has some nice outdoor furniture and accessories. Although it is nice, this set up is a little too much for my space.

This chair (above) is a nice color and good size for the space. And for $39 it definitely has potential (and I have a coupon!)

Now, lets head over to Target where I found this table that would look great with the chairs I found at J C Penney, but first I'll have to make sure it will fit.

This set (below) had me at hello! But, the price said no:( At $500 for the chairs alone I'd rather wait until next year when we really plan to tackle the backyard.

Moving along to pillow options...

I'm thinking about something in the red family since I plan to paint my front door red. I found a few other pillows at Home Depot so stay tuned for those!

FROM DRAB TO FAB

***Edited to add that I'm linking this up to Metamorphasis Mondays at BNOTP and The Shabby Chic Cottage Transformation Thursdays

The painter finally finished! I love the color scheme that I chose.

Let's take a look at what the house looked like before:

When we purchased the house we knew that a lot of work was going to have to be done to it to get it up to "my" standards. The exterior was put on the back burner for a year until we received an incredible deal from the painter. While trying to figure out a color scheme, I played around with a very helpful tool on Sherwin Williams website that helped me come up with this:

Here are a few pictures of the house going thru the transformation of becoming our "home"

And here is the after:

Now of course it's my turn to add the finishing touches like new house numbers, outdoor light fixtures and landscaping, but as far as the house I think he did a great job. I didn't get a chance to take pictures of the back so I will do that later today so take another look at this post tomorrow!

What do you think? Much better huh? Did you notice that I don't have the red door?

YOU SPOKE...I LISTENED...THANKS!

Thanks to everyone who commented on yesterdays post. Majority rules and that is "Paint the garage doors the same color as the trim". It looks soooo much better than the brown doors.

Brown doors:

Pavillion Beige doors:

He "said" that he will be finished tomorrow let's cross our fingers!

And the pantry's paint is almost finished and the shelves are going up. And to Latasha, I included Mod Podge!

EMERGENCY...I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

Do you remember the colors I chose for the house? If not here is a mock up of the colors (not my house):

Well as you can see, the house in the mock up does not have garage doors that are visible. My house on the other hand does. So my question is: Should my garage doors be the same color as the shutters or the same color as the trim? Please help even if you've never commented before! I NEED YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER!!!

Oh and I AM working on the pantry as I type so here is a quick look at the color:

Can you tell it's been painted? Yeah me either! The color is Subtle Taupe by Valspar. It's a soft taupe/gray/boring color . We'll talk more about that later.

Have you entered my giveaway? If not, hurry on over and do so before Nov. 8th!

RAIN DROPS KEEP FALLING ON MY HOUSE

The paint has finally started to go on the house. I should be excited about this, but the rain WILL NOT go away. The painter managed to get paint on the front of the house and a little on the side before it started to pour and he literally had to run!!! Here are a few photos of what the house look like now

Today he is "suppose" to be back painting since the ran let up for a few days (it's starting back tomorrow), but as I type this he is across the street pressure washing a neighbors house (do you see a problem with that?). I've really been upset lately with this whole process. I'm starting to believe that my "deal" was a deal he was giving everyone and now he is booked. So now I must wait (I guess), and hope that this will not be the only image I'll see out of my window! I need SUN!!!

BTW, you will never believe the deal I got on my paint! Here's the story: I went to the paint store to find a color that was very very close to the Tavern Taupe that I chose from Sherwin Williams. While I was at the home improvement store (that I will not mention), I asked for a sample of the color that matched SW Tavern Taupe. When I picked up the sample, the top fell off and the paint spilled all over my shoes. So I asked for a discount coupon to compensate for the 'mishap'. Would you believe that I was able to get 10 gallons of paint for the price of 1 gallon? Can you believe it? I can't and the proof is on my house! The color is Antique Leather.
