DECORATING YOUR MANTEL

Last year I didn't do the BEST job of decorating my fireplace mantel

But this year, I have high hopes that my fireplace will make a statement!

I found these stockings at Target the other day.

I also found stocking holders at Target similar to these from Pottery Barn. The difference is price. While these are nice and engravable they also are $19 each. Whereas Target have them in a 2pk for $7.99!!

Now if I can find the perfect garland. Have any of you used live garland before? I think that may be my best bet because I havent seen artificial garland that is thick enough for what I imagine for the fire place.

And on a different note, Today is my oldest son's birthday!

I remember when I brought him home 5 years ago. Scared, excited, nervous, and blessed are a few of the emotions that I was filled with on that day. I appriciate all of the things I've learned from him! And I enjoy watching him show me all of the things that I've taught him! So tomorrow we will celebrate and the only decor I will be focusing on is everything that has this logo!

Have a great weekend!

Looks like you've got a good plan. I haven't used live garland before but I like the idea. Nester and Kimba both have great fireplace garlands on their sites too if I remember right.

WOW! It's been 3 hours and I still beat the Great Janell! And yes this is something that I can do very well. It will probably be the only decoration that I can master without any assistants. FINALLY! Something I can do better than Lakeitha. Chow!

I used some thin garland I got on clearance for Target for my mantle. The garland was too long for my mantle so I folded it in thirds and twisted it into itself. That made it into a very thick garland.

I think you could use 'fake' if you doubled it depending on how 'thick' it is to begin with. Hobby Lobby has some really pretty garlands, then I'd add my own lights if you wanted those in it. I'm trying to decide what I want to do with the mantle this year too. I have a couple of ideas for items to put on it ...but the garland part has me stumped. LOL

I don't know how I missed this before I left this morning! I like your fireplace mantle. I have used live garland, but it's been years, and I also didn't dress it up like I needed to . . . it was almost naked!!!! I'll be making my trip back to the HL tomorrow, so I'll have to look at their selection again.

Happy Birthday to your wonderful baby boy, and I hope you guys have a great time at the party tomorrow!

Can't wait to see it. What a sweet post on your baby's b-day. Symone's 5th b-day is in 3 wks. My last year of her birthday w/ her to myself before she starts school. I'm calling for a national holiday on 12/14! Enjoy, Mama.
