CARS BEDROOM: Decisions Decisions…

Yesterday I spent a little time playing around in the “cars bedroom”.  I was trying to figure out what I was going to do next in the space.  Every piece of me wants to remove the closet doors, paint the inside black and stick a red campaign dresser in there!  The problem?  I’ve already taken away every other closet in my house!

The ceiling fan needs to go.  I purchased another Ikea MELODI pendant, but I kinda want something different in this space.  Not sure.  May have to think more about it…

I personally don’t like these types of blinds.  You know, the faux wood blinds?  I prefer bamboo blinds, but they won’t work in this space.  Maybe some chevron print window treatments? yeah, maybe….

Furniture… Well the room is not large at all.  As mentioned, I do have a campaign dresser that can be placed in this room, but it will take up too much space.  I added the cubes just to to how a chest or something would look…

seeing the cubes placed by the door made me realize that a chest wouldn’t work there.

Oh yeah, do you see that car?

Here is a better view.

This little guy have PLENTY of cars to play with! I think the need to take the cars off the wall is just something for him to do!

Today I’m going to try and make it to IKEA.  I have an idea for a rug!  I’ll keep you posted on on what I come up withWinking smile

Happy Wednesday!

Hey honey, just wanted to let you know the room looks fab!! I'm just slightly behind you progress wise with our room but I'm having second thoughts. I wish I would have listened to your advice and opted for plain bedding. All those car graphics are killing me & it make the room looks so chaotic even when its clean.

I've got a few last projects to do and then I guess I will have to take a few pics ... not sure why I'm so shy about sharing photos of my home. Afraid of disapproval I guess

A rug layered over the carpet could look great, grounding the furniture and space and adding texture or pattern. Funny about you transforming most of your closets into something else! And as for the blinds, behind drapes they won't bother you, I'm sure. Perhaps some of those funky shorter drapes, so the boys don't pull them down? Just a (crazy?) thought...

It's such a bummer when function gets in the way of creative decorating (with the closet), isn't it? I think a rug would look great in there too - will be fun to see what you find at IKEA. I wish ours wasn't so far away from me - I would definitely go there more often. Happy Wednesday to you, too.

I don't comment very often...but really enjoy your blog. When my kids were young they had a small room each. I put the chest of drawer at the end of their beds. Took up less space, gave me a place to put books, etc and worked very well. When they got older, I got a long desk from Ikea and put it sideways along the bed...sort of made a large square with the bed and desk. Worked really well for them as teenagers needing lots of desk space for laptops, projects, etc.
