ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO….

Almost two years ago, I started on this room

sad huh?

I managed to make a little progress like painting the room a pretty shade of brown (Roasted Nuts by Behr paint and primer)

(ignore the cheap chest of drawers!)

I purchased lamps

I purchased a mirror from Goodwill and painted it (thinking I was going to use it in the room)

I also purchased a chair that I thought I could use bring back to life

It still looks like that.

Oh and lets not forget the light.  I went from looking at this everyday

To looking at this

I was so close to having a finished room.  Why did I give up?  Because I am my worse critic! I can never make myself happy when it comes to decorating… Is anyone else like that?  Or am I just weird?

Well, I’m not going to give up.  I’m starting back on my room and I hope to finish it SOON.  Like REALLY REALLY SOON!

So stay with on this one.  And if it even look like I’m about to give up, just say

“Go back to your room, Lakeitha!”

HA! I have the same issue and I suspect almost ALL interior designers do too! I was telling a friend last night that I need to finish at least ONE room in my house before moving to a new one and she commented, "so you can go start the first one all over again"? SN: I say definitely paint the mirror, bold colors make the ornate design stand out more!

Ha,ha!! It's hard not to be a critic when seeing so many different inspirations everyday in blogland. Oh...I like that, how about that...no, this! So many choices and then we have to settle on what we think we like best for our own homes.
It's hard not to second guess! Janell

Oh girl, you should see our room. I am embarrassed to say that I have done nothing with it for 5 years. It is a seriously sad looking room. lol I love the color on your walls and that mirror is amazing! :)

Ummmm... my master bedroom is B.A.R.E, so don't feel bad. I've been working on my plan for forever! So glad to see your room come together and its gorgeous! I love the colors and the chandy!

I'm seeing lots of people forgo ceiling fans for other lighting options. I WISH I could do that, but I need my fans!

I so understand. I am completely indecisive and slow when it comes to decorating. Just focus on the end result though. Thinking of the finished room is always a good motivator.

it always takes longer to finish a room that we think! i started a "little" weekend project to update a small bedroom into a den. that was just after christmas....and i am moving at a snails pace. i do about one project a month. at this rate, i will have grey hair when it's all done!

I do the same thing, start a room and lose inspiration and then move on to the next project! so you are not alone:) I think your bedroom already looks great though, your home is so beautiful!

I so understand where your coming from! I'm gung-ho about some projects and other fizzle out...but know that your bedroom is on your mind there's no time like the present to get your room done! :)

You are most certainly NOT the only one ... I have yet to make much progress on the kids room :( and you don't even want to get me started on my mish mash living room. Remember those hideous floral chairs I got from Craigslist with the nice bones ... well, they're still floral and sitting in my living room right now ... with my green & aqua striped couch and that new couch I bought in November. Its worse than the house I had with 12 roommates where we all shared furniture ... so embarrassing. I'll get started on it if you ... GO TO YOUR ROOM! :) Love ya

I agree it is hard not to be your worst critic. I can say that you have a good base to start back up with. I have faith and know that you can do it. And yes I'll help to make sure you stay on the straight and narrow. One suggestion, create a moodboard for your own room to help you stay on track. You would do it for a client so do it for yourself.

Youre not weird, I'm my own worst critic as well- its so hard to decorate our own spaces thats for sure!

I sooo agree about being your own worst critic! Just when I think I have a room perfect, I see another paint color, a beautiful chair or light fixture that makes me want to start all over again!

It's a curse I tell you! Good luck!!!
