SPONSORED POST: Joyful Noise

Have you seen the preview for the movie Joyful Noise? It’s a movie that features Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton (two women I just LOVE!) The movie is basically about a small town in Georgia that has fallen on hard times, but the community is counting on Divinity Church Choir to lift their spirits by winning the National Joyful Noise Competition. The movie is set to be released in theaters January 13th, and from the trailer, I can’t wait to see it! You can watch the preview for yourself here.

The movie got me thinking about a special and inspiring person in my life that I’m glad to be able to call a friend. I’ve written about her on several occasions, and I’m pretty sure you already know who I’m talking about: Janell Beals. Janell is someone who isn’t afraid to go after what she wants. She faced a situation that could have left her discouraged, but instead she took matters into her own hands and created a magazine called House of Fifty!

Like the movie, Joyful Noise, Janell and her magazine are both inspirational to me and many people who would take the time to check it out. In Joyful Noise, Dolly Parton (G. G. Sparrow) wants to go against Queen Latifah’s (Vi Rose Hill) tried and true traditional style for the choir. G. G. (Parton) feels as though tried-and-true translates into tired-and-old! So basically Dolly Parton’s character wants to “shake things up”!

How does that relate to Janell and her venture? Well, Janell is a very talented interior designer, and she has a great blog called Isabella and Max Rooms. But instead of continuing to do what is considered “tried-and-true”, she decided to step out and shake things up by reaching out to a long list of other talented women and creating something that was totally outside the norm. How many people do you know who would start up their own magazine?!

Like I said earlier, I am completely inspired by her will and dedication to create her own destiny. It helps me to remember that old saying: “where there is a will, there is a way".

I hope that if you have a will for something that you can find a way to step out on a limb, and follow your passion. This may include shaking things up a bit, but in the end I hope that you too can make some Joyful Noise like Janell did!

How about you, is there a wonderful lady in your life who has been inspirational to you? Tell me about her in the comments!

Check out the BlogHer.com Joyful Noise page to see what other bloggers thought of the movie. Also, see the trailer at the official Joyful Noise site and get news on their Facebook and the Warner Bros. Pictures Twitter. See the movie in theaters on January 13th!

I don't really have an inspirational woman to comment about, well except for my mom but I think most of us are inspired in some way by our mothers:) but I just wanted to say I can't wait to see the movie too and that this post alone inspires me! Have a great day.

Thanks for kind words, you inspire me! My grandmother was my biggest inspiration, she had such a fun spirit and youthful attitude, into her 90's. I miss her! Janell
