SHIPPING PALETTES?

Remember the inspiration for TJ’s room?

sl-duvet-ronan

What really sold me on the space (other than the rugby stripe duvet), was the headboard. Originally, I was planning on making an upholstered headboard. But then I thought about the palettes in the photo. I think it would be perfect for him and it could give the room that rustic element that I like. Of course I’d have to sand them and add some type of top coat, but isn’t this a great idea?

What do you think? These are some of the coolest repurposing ideas I’ve seen in a while! I’ve already purchased my palettes for $10 for two (thanks Lowe’s). If you follow me on twitter, then you probably laughed when I told you what my husbands reaction was! But, for those of you that don’t, when I arrived home at about 10pm and asked him to help me unload them from the truck he said: “what the H E double hockey sticks are you up to now?”!!! Ahh yes….being married to a blogger/DIY’er! Do you think they have a meeting group for this?!

Would you consider using shipping palettes in your home? Or, do you think I’ve gone off the deep end too?!

I really love this look! There something really cool about the industrial look of the creates in such a non-industrial space!

And your husbands reaction is priceless! haha

Reminds me of all the rough wood Sarah Richardson used in her Farmhouse Renovation...I love it! Though it does remind me of my childhood: my dad took endless shipping palettes apart to get wood for other projects, (most of have been better wood back then) and I naturally had to lend a hand in their deconstruction. Child labor for sure, but I guess that is where it all started for me, so I can't be too bitter!! :)
I need to send him the link to all the ways to use palettes, he'll get a kick out of it most certainly!

I think they sound fun!!! If I remember correctly Bower Power added a wall of shipping palettes to her sons nurshey bedroom and it turned out great!

Love the headboard idea. I think it goes really well with the nautical theme you like, too.

I'm so glad you said where you purchased your palettes because I was wondering where to get some. I'm so planning on purchasing some for an upcoming project. Your son's inspiration room is actually the inspiration room for my project too. It's for a model home I'm working on in Dallas.

Hope you can make it out to the Crave event in a few weeks. Look forward to seeing you. -c

See you soon on Twitter, my friend!
