Yesterday I shared the news that I will be working on a nursery for my soon to arrive niece or nephew! Today I’m here to share with you the plan for the room
The '”theme” for the space is nature! Inspiration comes from all sorts of things when I think of a design direction for a space so when I saw these shower curtains at Target, I thought BINGO!
My sister in law and I love these colors together and I love the stripes paired with the above mid century modern print! My inspiration didn’t just stop at the colors of the shower curtains, I plan to make a bed skirt with the stripe curtain and have pillows made with the tree and squirrel printed one! Speaking of fabrics for the space, I haven’t gotten my hands on Robert Allens ‘Cats Cradle’ and I think it will SING in this room!
The nursery will also include a DIY mobile
I found the above DIY mobile on Design Sponge, but I thinks its originally from Spool Sewing (?)
This one is cute too! I need to learn origami first!
Of course the room will include at least one piece of revamped furniture! I’m thinking the changing table. I need to check with my sister first;-)
Love an art wall in a nursery
Sherri and John displayed the cutest pieces of art in their daughter Clara’s nursery! And since my new niece or nephew is joining a gang of cousins (no kidding, 8 boys so far) and a big brother, I think it will be so cool to include pictures of them along with pictures of mommy daddy and big brother Chandler!
No nature inspired room would be complete without some type of plant! And I think a HUGE tree behind the crib will be smashing! Don’t you think?!
(Etsy)
Oh and I plan to bring in some art including this lovely piece designed by Jen Ramos
There is so much more that will be going into this room! And of course I’m going to be journaling the entire process right here for you guys! This is the first time that my sister in law is seeing the plans for the room so please let us know what you think! Am I off to a good start?! Stay tuned for more!

Can't wait to see what you do with this room! I almost bought that first shower curtain at Target. It's soo cute. That bird mobile, I ran across that a few months ago and already have it bookmarked in case I get pregnant. ha ha
you are off to a wonderful start. she and the little one are in good hands! i love all of your ideas and look forward to seeing how you pull it all together!
Love the inspirations and this is going to be a fun room to work on! I have been wanting a print by Jan Ramos for awhile, I hinted to my family for my birthday...but since they weren't listening (Ha!!) I may have to just order one myself. Enjoy this project! Janell
I love all the inspiration that you've collected. I just can't wait to see the end result. I'm sure that it's going to be a beautiful room.
Love, love, L_O_V_E it!!!! I bet if we compared inspiration folders they would be almost identical.
That bird mobile has been on my to do list since Caroline was born (3.5 years ago!)
I actually bought the nature shower curtain from Target to use as in my kids playroom. I loved it but the colors didn't match teh rest of our pieces so I took a bunch of photos of it and returned it. I bought some beige canvas type cloth and some sponges and plan to stamp a similar pattern on to the cloth in our colors .... I'll let you know if that ever happens :)
Enough about me, I'm loving the room ideas and super excited to follow along with you
The bed skirt is going to be adorable!
What a great start! All your ideas are fabulous and I know are going to come out perfectly! Good call on the "Cat's Cradle"!
Loving those shower curtains for Target...I can see why they inspired you for the nursery!
So many great ideas! I love the Robert Allen fabric - would look lovely framed, as drapes or pillows :)
This going to be such a fun and special nursery! :)
Great ideas -- and I love your color choices. They're a bit more unexpected for a nursery and perfectly gender neutral. Love it!
How fun!! Love the inspiration - a nursery is one of the most fun rooms to decorate! Have fun and congrats on the neice!!
I think that first mobile might be from Sundance? Google "Migration Mobile Sundance Catalog". I'm pretty sure it was on sale recently -- maybe you could find it on eBay.
