I’ve been thinking a lot about furniture for my home. For instance, in my family room, I want a white slipcovered sofa. Am I nuts??? I have three BOYS for goodness sake.
My husband would seriously think that I’ve gone off the deep end (and understandably so). My boys ruin everything. No matter how much we talk to them. No matter how many rules we make for the house, they find some sort of way to mess things up.
But wouldn’t my life be a little easier with a white slipcovered sofa? If it gets dirty, I can remove the cover and wash it. Or I could simply spot clean it if need be.
And with IKEA’s EKTORP sofa being only $399, that’s not a huge investment, right? Even if I replaced the slipcover every month it’s only $49. I eat that a month

No, you are not crazy. I have a white slipcovered sofa, and three dogs that NEVER listen to me when I say the couch is off-limits. Oh yeah, and one dog is black. And sheds. On a white sofa. Faboooo. Lint roller. Wash the slipcover once a week or so. Not too terrible. At least kids don't shed. I'm sure neither kids nor dogs wipe their feet, but it really isn't that bad.
Man, oh, man, I share your love for the white sofa or the slip covered sofa, but with three boys? I just wouldn't do it. You'll be washing it every week for sure and that crispy white look will soon fade. Maybe a fab white chair, just for you, is what you need!
Great photos! I love a white couch but with two dogs I know my limits! How about a white accent chair or other white accents? I think you would get real tired of washing a slipcover weekly...it would be just another task on the list. Thanks for sharing have a great week!
I was going to post yes, but then reading the above, yes...how often do you want to have to wash it. That is the question to answer I'm thinking before taking the leap. Janell
I have dogs and kids and I've done the white slipcover thing and it's quite a chore. Slipcovers are big to wash and dry and it's a hassle taking it off and even harder putting it back on. That being said, I'm thinking about doing it again myself. I love the look!

No ma'am you are not crazy. My kids aren't little anymore but they still spill and our dog regularly used our slipcover like a fire hydrant, thank the Lord for white slipcovers, they look so fresh and clean after a washing. You'll be happy and you won't have to stress when the boys jump on the couch with dirty hands.
Not crazy... brave!
Go with function. U can wash it. I am definitely going slipcover soon.
No not crazy, I have the same sofa in our playroom. The only drawback with them are the zippers break easily!
Having to chose that kind of sofa is a nice idea. you can save time because you can quickly change the sofa cover. One tip though. is it a leather sofa? if yes, then you can polish it first before putting some cover to preserve the furniture.
We bought a gray sofa for our den before the baby was born thinking it would stay cleaner with kids. Guess what color spit-up stains a gray couch? Shoulda gone with white....
Nice information you share with us.
