LAURENT ~VS~ CAMERON

Back in October I did a post comparing the Laurent table (no longer on their website) from Crate and Barrel to the Cameron table from JC Penney. I noted that the Laurent table was $1699 and the the Cameron table (without chairs) was $449 (at the time).

Here is the Laurent table from Crate and Barrel

And here is the Cameron Place table from JC Prenney

I decided on this table because I was able to get a similar look of the Laurent table at a fraction of the price!

Cameron Place table and four chairs $899!

I only purchased four chairs because I would prefer two different chairs at the end of the table.

Overall I am pleased. The color of the set is more of an espresso. I’ve only had it for about a month and so far so good. Well, except for the fact that my son decided to grab the vase and slide it back and forth on the table…. SCRATCH GALORE!!! It’s not THAT bad, but its there.

So what do you think? Do you like the Cameron table or would you have chosen the Laurent table? I tell you one thing, we’ve been in this house for two years and I have yet to decorate a table for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any other holiday for that matter, so I plan to have a BALL decorating this one!

Great choice! Can't wait to see what chairs you put at the head!

Oh, most definitely I would have selected the less expensive option! I am missing a dining table myself, my piano sits in the space designated for one and I am seriously thinking about moving some stuff around to fit in a real dining room! I have hosted some tight family dinners around our kitchen nook table. Not too pretty! Enjoy making your table festive for upcoming events! Janell

I like it and that's a good price for that set. I also like that you will have different chairs at the ends, makes for a more interesting room and not so cookie cutter.

I am a fan of anything at a cheaper price. Im im cohoots rite now to buy a console table from overstock that looks like the West Elm table.

I didnt realize JCP was so forward in home design.

For that price...Cameron Place table ALL THE WAY. On my Design days I alsor work in a Furnityre store as a Design Consultant, and I learned that some of these companies sometimes have the same manufactures. I think you choose well

I like the table a lot, it has great lines! I'm all for finding a copycat item for a better value and your scored!

What type of chairs are you considering for the ends of the table? Fabric ones.....

When I can't decide between two items; I do the same as you - go for the least expensive. You can use the extra money for decorating items! :) Cheers AmericKim

Very nice option! I don't blame you a bit for going with the JC Penney version. Tables will get scratched, it will definitely happen. Hope you enjoy!

THanks for stopping by to see me too!
