A DRESSER REVEAL?

I know this post is kind of impromptu since you guys didn’t know I was even working on another dresser!  Well, it was a spur of the moment job.  I was out cleaning the garage and when I moved the dresser

019

(This is the dresser after I sprayed greased lightening on it!)

I figured I would start working on it so I can move it out of the garage.  I actually tweeted the process and shared a few tips on how I paint furniture.  Do you follow me on Twitter?  Speaking of twitter, do you follow House of Fifty on Twitter (Shameless plug!)?

Here are a few during pictures

021

(I applied Vaseline to the brass plates to protect them from paint)

(not sure if you can see, but the top right side is clean)

(brass plates with paint and Vaseline on them)

(fyi, the plates on this piece was already in bad condition like this!)

Here is the after

I apologize for the pictures.  I swear my pictures are getting worse and worse these days…

Everyone wants to know the color green I used and I’m sorry to say that this was an oops paint from Home Depot.  I have no idea.  It’s sort of a sage green.  I wish it was a little more lime, but it works with the ikat fabric that I’m using in the room so I’m happy!

I hope you guys have a great weekend! Who else is going to see the movie Rio?!

I’m linking this post to Miss Mustard Seed’s Friday Furniture linky party!

It's great to use the things that you have already, but it's not the dresser that I'm looking at...I'm swooning :) over those bookends

Hold the phone, I can use Vaseline instead of spending an hour trying to tape off my hardware? I need more details!

What, Vaseline? Brilliant! I love this, it is gorgeous. Where on earth do you find these treasures. Oh, wait, GW? I would faint if I came across something like this in my Goodwill! Janell

So fun! I love this "oops" color :) I have a campaign dresser awaiting some love too and I love this vaseline trick. I was actually thinking I had to remove all those brass pieces which would be a huge pain. Thanks for the tip!
