Today’s progress report is courtesy of my sister in law (Deitra). After reading my last fiew posts, she felt like I was in a little over my head and decided to send painters out to my room this morning…Thanks sis! Oh yeah, thanks to my big bro this morning too! He called to give me some words of encouragement and I tell you this, I feel a lot better! I also want to thank everyone that has encouraged me on this project. The personal emails, the direct messages on twitter, the phone calls… Thank you so much! I do have a shout post coming soon for everyone
Anyway, so the paint color that I decided on for the room is Nocturnal Sea by Behr paints
Look at how pretty it looks in the can!!! Below is the first coat on the wall
looks good right?!
Here is a shot of the second coat
I am so excited about the color! The thick baseboards make me swoon! There’s April talking about who knows what!
There she is again…still talking and smiling!
Anyway, we had a very productive day. There is still a lot to do, but we’ve gotten a lot done so far! Also, thank to an unexpected donation, I was able to go to Ikea and purchase duvet inserts for the bunk beds! While there, I had to get a shot of this kitchen
Love the grey and the the brick!
I seriously LOVE this kitchen!
Anyway, thanks again everyone who has given support (regardless of the type) to me throughout this process.
"For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required." -- Luke 12:48
I’ll be back tomorrow with Day 4!

Hey! I didn't make it down there today, but glad to hear you are making progress. It's going to be pretty, just you wait and see. I am definitely coming back on Friday to see all the finished rooms so I can photograph them too. Hang in there! I look forward to the next shelter in the fall, I'll definitely sign up to do a room then.
I LOVE that color! I need to come peek tomorrow :) I am so glad your family and friends came to their senses and helped you out ! See you tomorrow GF
I'm so glad your spirits have been lifted!! The wall color looks amazing!
Love the color, Lakeitha! Can't wait to see another update!
I just caught up on your progress. The color looks fantastic and how cool is it that the people at Behr donated it!
Looking good!! So glad that things are coming together. HATE that I couldn't be there with you guys all week.
Am glad you're feeling better! You'll pull it out. This looks so much fun, I wish I was in Atlanta so I could come over and help out!
Glad your family is there to hold you up :) I love the wall colour! I am looking forward to seeing what looks like when its all finished!
Pretty color! Hang in there. It will be beautiful and the family will be so so happy.
I don't know what direction you're headed for the design, but have you thought of seeing if the school system could donate a couple of old school lockers the family could use for storage? I'm not a designer and it's just a thought....
Ikea...yeah!! The room is coming together! Janell
I love that blue. It's coming together you guys are almost to the finish line.
Hey girl - it's looking great - love the color you chose! It will be great, and you'll be so rewarded when it's done. You're doing such a wonderful thing! Have you thought about adding a paypal option on your blog to make donating money a little easier? Just a thought for next time. Can't wait to see the room all done!
